Happy 232nd Birthday, Navy!

From the NavyTimes.com

Today is the 232nd anniversary of the fleet, a chance to honor the customs, culture and history of sailors and their service.

On Oct. 13, 1775, in Philadelphia, the Continental Congress voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with 10 carriage guns, as well as swivel guns, and manned by crews of 80; the members resolved to send them out on a three-month cruise to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British army in America. more

This is the time of year for the Navy Ball.  We have attended many times.  This year with the hubby away, it is a tradition I will miss.  There is something very fun about getting all dressed up and having a date night with your very own Sailor!  🙂  I’m hoping by this time next year he will be home!  For those of you attending this year, have a wonderful time…..and take the time (and money) to get your hair done!

Enjoy and Happy Birthday, Navy!
