Behind the Scenes of “Transformers”

Back in Feb, I was in NM and learned the movie “Transformers” had been partially filmed at Holloman Air Force base.

We went to see the movie today and I was pleasantly surprised.

Favorite quotes as heard from the theatre seats:

“Wow, I want one of those” – When the new Camero makes his appearance.

“Awesome” – about 5 or times throughout the movie.

I had originally told LilK that since I took him to see “Ratatouille” the day prior that is was only fair he go with me to see a “Chick Flick” today. I had him fooled until he was able to read the sign above the theatre as we walked inside.

I have many childhood memories spent at White Sands, including most 4th of July’s. It was very cool to see it as a back drop for much of the first part of the movie. Although the mock village at the base of a sand dune was a little hard to believe since I was having flashbacks of being 10 and running down the sand dune, crawling back up and then doing it all over again.

This is the type of movie that is much better viewed on the big screen….make a date and go see it!

On a side note: A relative of mine told me today when filming wrapped on set, the producers rented a local restaurant and had a cast & crew party till 11pm, then they opened the party to all Alamogordo residents and provided an open bar until the place closed. I thought that was pretty cool.
