Ole Miss vs. Kentucky

1.jpgI am so happy it is college basketball season again.  It’s the one sport on TV, I actually don’t mind watching and even look forward to.  On Sat. we went to our first game in the area.  When we lived in GA, we went to a Gator game at least once a season.  We traveled to Oxford, MS.  Since C. was almost stationed there as part of the ROTC program, we were extra curious as to what we were missing.  The town was very charming, we toured the “square” and went to Off the Square Book Store, which I’ve read about in the newspaper as place where lots of authors do book tours.  You might know Oxford from William Faulkner or John Grisham, this is where JG went to Law School.  Ole Miss has a very nice campus with lots of great architecture and lots of rolling hills.  We found the “Tad Pad” without a problem and were even very early.  The game was lots of fun, with LOTS of Kentucky fans.  Since the “Tad Pad” is A LOT smaller than the O’Connell Center in Gainsville, our seats were great even though they were 3 rows from the TOP…..but also half court so it didn’t matter.  $5 for a soda……wow.  It was a great time though.  Lots of excitement and we got to see Tubby Smith.  We weren’t sure who to root for…….I don’t think it mattered.  We are traveling down again in Feb. to see the Bulldogs.  Can’t wait!
